Welcome Students!


Through its Ambassadors program, ICSC has arranged for a roster of industry leaders who are available to mentor student attendees at the ICSC Florida Conference.  Mentoring conversations will be hosted at the University Square area, on the trade show floor.  Look for overhead signage to locate University Square.  Mentor biographies, which include appointment times to meet, follow.  Appointments are available on a drop-in basis and need not be scheduled prior to the conference.  However, please do bring a copy of your resume to the mentor meetings.  Questions?  Contact Madison Gross, Director, ICSC Ambassadors Program at mgross@icsc.org or at 646-728-3461.

Alton R. (Tony) Brown, III, CCIM, CRX, CSM, CLS, CDP


Alton R. (Tony) Brown, III, CCIM, CRX, CSM, CLS, CDP is President of The Pelican Group, Inc., a privately-owned, Mobile, AL-based developer and manager of shopping centers. Mr. Brown’s day-today responsibilities include oversight of all development, financing, leasing and management functions of The Pelican Group. Mr. Brown also serves as Vice President and Secretary of Shanri Holdings Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Shanri Investment, Ltd. (Victoria, British Columbia) and is responsible for all asset management functions relating to Shanri’s US portfolio. Prior to forming The Pelican Group, Mr. Brown was Vice President of Herman Maisel and Company, Inc., also of Mobile, where his principal responsibility was the financing and development of office buildings and shopping centers. 

Mr. Brown has served as ICSC’s State Government Relations Committee Chairman (AL/MS), State Director for Alabama and Mississippi, Southern Division Government Relations Chairman and Southern Division Alliance Co-Chair. Mr. Brown has also served program chairmanships for the Gulf South Idea Exchange and the Gulf South Alliance Program. For over 25 years Mr. Brown has served as a member of the national Environmental Sub-Committee, including task forces focusing on Wetlands, Toxic Wastes and Land Rights. During this time he served as Chairman of the Land Rights Task Force from 1995- 2000 and Chairman of the Environmental Sub-Committee from 2001-2007. Mr. Brown has also served as a member of the national Alliance Program Task Force and the national Government Relations Committee. As a part of ICSC’s education programs, He taught “Finance for Non-Financial Professionals” for six years, the Executive Learning Series in 2006 and 2008 and for six years at The University of Shopping Centers in the School of Economic Development at Wharton –The University of Pennsylvania, where he served as the Associate Dean in 2004 and Dean of the School of Economic Development in 2005. Mr. Brown received ICSC’s “Trustees Distinguished Service Award” in  2000. Mr. Brown has served on the CLS (Certified Leasing Specialist) national exam writing committee. During his chairmanship of the Environmental sub-committee, Mr. Brown served as a Member of the Environmental Committee of the Real Estate Roundtable and represented ICSC as a Member of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s “Negotiated Rulemaking Committee on All Appropriate Inquiry” for Section 223 of the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act (PL 107-118). He is an ICSC Ambassador. Mr. Brown holds a B.A.e from The University of South Alabama (USA), a Master of Arts degree from The University of South Alabama Graduate School, where he currently serves as a member of The Mitchell College of Business (USA) Real Estate & Economic Development Advisory Board. Mr. Brown also serves on the Investment and Finance Committees of the Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation Board.

Andrew Carlson, CRX, CSM, CLS


Andrew Carlson, CRX, CSM, CLS represents national and regional retailers in their expansion in Florida and Puerto Rico for JLL.  He oversees agency leasing and tenant representation efforts in Central and South Florida, as well as Puerto Rico.  In addition, Andy manages the retail brokerage team in the Tampa office.  Andy has over 25 years of experience in the shopping center industry including positions in Property Management, Development and Construction, Mall management, Asset Management, Landlord Leasing and Tenant Representation. 

Since beginning his career in 1986, Andy has completed retail transactions in excess of 5,000,000 square feet with various retailers including anchors, Jr. boxes, small shop and lifestyle tenants. He has been employed by national, regional and local companies such as Forest City Enterprises, Jim Morris and Associates, Inc. and the Sembler Company of St Petersburg, FL. With the Sembler Company, Andy leased over 3,000,000 square feet of power, strip, mixed use and lifestyle shopping centers in Florida and Puerto Rico.  In February of 2013, Andy formed The Retail Advisors and represents several top retail clients as well as providing consulting services to Landlords in Florida and Puerto Rico. 

Andy has attended the ICSC School of Professional Development and has earned the ICSC Certified Retail Property Executive, Certified Shopping Center Manager and Certified Leasing Specialist designations. He has served as the Chairman for the West Florida ICSC Idea Exchange and as the senior advisor for the ICSC Next Generation Program in Tampa, FL. 

Andy currently serves on the ICSC Certified Leasing Specialist test review and certification board, The Caribbean Conference Committee and has spoken and participated at several ICSC sponsored events. Andy holds Real Estate Broker’s Licenses in Florida and Puerto Rico. Andy is an ICSC Ambassador.

Rod Castan, CRX, CLS


Rod Castan, CRX, CLS has been in the commercial property development, and management business since 1985.  He is the President of the Leasing and Property Management Division of Courtelis Company, a Miami based commercial and multi family real estate development firm that was established in 1963.  During his 22 year tenure at Courtelis, he has been involved in the development of 30 ground up and redevelopment shopping center and commercial projects totaling over 4 million sq.ft.  Prior to joining Courtelis, Rod Castan was Vice President of Leasing with Balcor Property Management, an American Express affiliate. 

Rod is the past Southern Division Operations Chairman of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), past ICSC State Director for Florida, and recipient of the CRX Certified Retail Executive and Certified Leasing Specialist designations, CLS.  He has been a guest speaker at real estate programs for ICSC, ULI and many Universities, and currently serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the University of Florida’s Bergstrom Center for Real Estate.

Ralph J. Conti, CCIM, CDP, CRX


Ralph J. Conti, CCIM, CDP, CRX, is the Principal and Managing Member of RaCo Real Estate, LLC, a boutique real estate consulting and development firm based in Atlanta, GA. A 37-year industry veteran, Ralph has extensive experience in retail and mixed use projects throughout the United States. Prior to forming RaCo in 2009, Ralph served as Executive Vice President for KIMCO Realty and prior to that he was a Partner with North American Properties-Atlanta; Vice President and Director of Development with Developers Diversified Realty, Cleveland, OH; Vice President of Development, Glimcher Realty Trust, Columbus, OH and Director of Development, Homart Development Co., Chicago. Ralph is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Georgia, a licensed General Contractor in the state of Florida and Certified Commercial Investment Manager (CCIM).  Ralph has led the development of well over 40 million square feet of retail and mixed use projects in his career. Ralph is active member of the ICSC professional education program serving as a senior faculty member both domestically and internationally. Ralph currently serves as ICSC State Operations Chair for Georgia and is an active member of the real estate advisory boards at the University of Florida and Georgia State University where he frequently guest lecturers. 

Ralph holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Masters of Project Management LaSalle as well as a Certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management from Cornell.

John M. Crossman, CCIM, CRX


John M. Crossman, CCIM, CRX is President of Crossman & Company, one of the largest retail leasing, management and investment sales in the Southeastern United States, with over 28 million square feet of properties located in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Tennessee. In this role, John oversees retail leasing and marketing initiatives for high margin clients. Under John’s leadership, alongside his brother Scott, Crossman & Company has been named one of the “Best Places to Work” by Florida Trend magazine. They are known in the industry for their community service, social media, education initiatives and diversity. Prior to joining Crossman & Company, John was a principal at Trammell Crow Company. He also led the company’s National Retail Council, which worked to advance the nationwide retail strategy.

Daniel Depace


Daniel Depace is a versatile financial professional in his seventeenth year with Office Depot.  Dan joined the company in 2000 as a director in accounting and has served in various capacities in the Finance department until 2006 when he transitioned into the Real Estate group.  At that time he was responsible for real estate transactions in the Northeast, Midwest and Southeastern U.S.  Dan is currently responsible for disposition of surplus real estate, Lease Administration, Energy Management and Facilities Maintenance. Dan is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and holds degrees from the University of Steubenville in Steubenville, Ohio as well as Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.

Gordon "Skip" Greeby, Jr. P.E., CDP, CRX


Gordon T. “Skip” Greeby, Jr. P.E., CDP, CRX is President of The Greeby Companies, Inc. in Chicago, IL. With offices throughout the United States and globally, Skip has directed his company’s efforts since 1978 relevant to third party development management, project management, and tenant coordination services.

Mr. Greeby is an ICSC Past Trustee (2007-2013), a past CenterBuild Conference Chairman, current Chair of the ICSC United States Design and Development Awards Jury, past Chair of ICSC’s CDP Admissions and Governing Committee, current Chair of the ICSC CRX (Certified Retail Property Executive) Admissions and Governing

Mariah Stone Klein


Mariah Stone Klein is Director of Leasing for Genesis Real Estate Advisers, LLC in Sandy Springs, GA.  She manages the leasing, renewal and expansion activity for the company’s portfolio of existing properties.   In addition, she assists in generating and leasing the company's new development projects.
Prior to Genesis, Ms. Klein was Senior Vice President of Leasing for Ben Carter Properties and Leasing Representative for CNM Associates where she managed a portfolio of more than 1.5 million square feet of retail space. With over twenty years of experience her expertise in research, analysis, qualification and client relationships has proven invaluable in providing our clients with exceptional service. Ms. Klein has additionally held positions with Ahold Real Estate Company and Marriott Vacation Club International.
Ms. Klein earned her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a Licensed Real Estate Broker in Georgia and Florida and is a licensed Salesperson in South Carolina. Ms. Klein is an active member of CREW and ICSC. She served as ICSC Georgia State Director from May 2012 through May 2015, Co-chair of the 2015 Southeast ICSC Program and chair of the 2016 Southeast ICSC Program. She is an ICSC Ambassador.

Kenneth S. Lamy, CRX


Kenneth S. Lamy, CRX has 30 plus years of deep experience in commercial & retail real estate and considered a global expert on retail leases, including rent, sales analysis, and revenue/data verification, tenant sales audits, analytics and compliance examinations. LAMY clients represent a broad spectrum of private / public Retail / CRE companies and REITs that own or manage thousands of properties including 1.5 plus billion square feet of GLA. 

Lamy has been an active member (Since 1980) of the International Council of Shopping Centers and a recipient of ICSC’s prestigious Trustee Distinguished Service Award. He holds the Certified Retail Property Executives (CRX) designation (Inaugural class) and a member of numerous global committees. 

He is an ICSC Ambassador and faculty member of various ICSC schools. Lamy has contributed to numerous articles and technical books internationally. Gregory T. Maloney, CRX, CSM


Gregory T. Maloney, CRX, CSM has spent 35+ years in the shopping center industry and is the President and CEO of JLL’s Americas Retail platform. In his role, he oversees all aspects of the retail business including management, leasing, marketing, development, tenant representation and strategic consulting services to national, local and global retailers and retail owners. JLL maintains the largest third-party managed retail portfolio, which has 1,310 centers under management, leasing, and sale, totaling 131 million square feet.  
Prior to his current role at JLL, Greg was an International Director – Business Development and Director of Property Management for the firm. He also held roles at ERE Yarmouth Retail, Compass Retail, Equity Property and Development Company and Homart Development. Greg has been a receiver for 20 years, and is the head of JLL’s receivership practice for all asset types including: office, industrial, retail, hotels, land, multifamily, healthcare and senior housing. He has acted as receiver for more than 100 properties throughout the U.S. and, in several cases, successfully directed the property sales. 

Greg sits on the Board of Trustees for ICSC, and is a Certified Retail Property Executive (CRX) and Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM).

Gary Ralston



Gary M. Ralston, CCIM, SIOR, SRS, CPM, CRE, CLS, CDP, CRX, FRICS is a managing partner of Coldwell Banker Commercial Saunders Ralston Dantzler Realty, LLC – the premier commercial services provider in Central Florida (Polk County).  He is a recognized subject matter expert on retail and commercial properties.  His experience includes the complete spectrum of commercial real estate services.  In addition, he is a successful real estate developer, investor, and group investment sponsor.  From the early 1990s through 2004 he was the president and a member of the board of directors of Commercial Net Lease Realty, Inc. (NYSE: NNN) the industry leader in signel-tenant corporate net-leased real estate.  During that time he guided the company’s growth from less than $15 million in real estate assets  to over $1.5 billion.  Gary holds the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), Specialist in Real Estate Securities (SRS), Certified Property Manager (CPM), Counselor of Real Estate (CRE), Certified Retail Property Executive (CRX) and Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) professional designations.  He is also a Florida licensed real estate broker and certified building contractor. Oscar R. Rivera, Esq.


Oscar R. Rivera, Esq. specializes in Real Property and Shopping Center Law and heads the Real Estate Practice Group of the Siegfried Rivera law firm in Coral Gables, Florida. He completed his undergraduate studies in accounting at the University of Miami and received his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University. Since 1981 he has represented numerous developers, investment companies, retailers and management companies throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America. 

Mr. Rivera has held several leadership positions within ICSC and is a recipient of the ICSC Trustees Distinguished Service Award. He has served as the Florida State Director and been a member of the faculty and dean of law at the ICSC University of Shopping Centers at Wharton College and the University of Southern California, Divisional Government Affairs Chairman for the seven-state Southern Division and Florida Government Affairs Chairman.  He has also served as conference chairman of the 1997 Conference of the Americas; 1998 Florida Law Symposium; 2006 US Shopping Centers Law Conference; 2004 and 2012 Florida Conference and 2015 and 2016 Latin American Law Conference.

Mr. Rivera lectures on various corporate and real estate topics throughout the United States and South America. His published works include “Anatomy of a Lease”, “Entertainment Center Leases: Theater, Restaurant and Other Idiosyncratic Issues”,  “Rent, Operating Expenses, Marketing and Other Monetary Issues”, “Basic Issues in Commercial Leases”, “Navigating Through the De-Malling Maze”, “The Economics of the Lease”, “The Eight Often Ignored Lease Clauses”, Current Issues in Restaurant Leasing” and “Drafting Leases to Make you Money.”

Dale E. Scott, CRX, CDP


Dale E. Scott, CRX, CDP serves as Director at Hawkins Construction, Inc. Mr. Scott was Chair of ICSC/IMRA’s Joint Task Force for the International Building Codes, resulting in favorable industry rulings. As past chair of the ICSC CenterBuild Conference he currently serves on the CenterBuild Advisory Council. Dale was Chair of ICSC’s Florida Conference, the nation’s third largest commercial real estate conference. He was a founding member and Chair of the West Florida Idea Exchange, past co-chair of the Central Florida Planning Committee, and an active participant in ICSC’s Government Relations efforts, both state and federal. Dale was a member of the CDP (Certified Development, Design and Construction Professional) Governing Committee, currently holding both the CDP and CRX designations. 

Mr. Scott is currently the ICSC Southern Division Lead Ambassador, and served as the ICSC Florida State Director for three years, He is a recipient of the prestigious ICSC’s Trustees Distinguished Services Award, a 2004 inductee into the Retail Construction Hall of Fame, and is listed as an Honored Member of the Who’s Who in Commercial Real Estate. Mr. Scott has published numerous articles, speaks frequently at many industry conferences, a guest lecturer at the university level and a contributor to many industry reports.

RJ Walker


RJ Walker has a twenty (20+) year distinguished career in commercial real estate covering funding/underwriting solutions and construction management services. Mr. Walker has been active in ICSC the past ten(10) years, including Past Co-Chair ICSC West FL and active on ICSC Florida Government Relations committee.  Mr. Walker is also an Advisory Board member, University of Florida Bergstrom Real Estate School. He provides guidance to MSRE students each year with mentoring, career advice and opening a few doors.  

Mr. Walker is Director of Business Development for Hawkins Construction headquartered in Tarpon Springs, FL. Hawkins Construction executes buildouts in the state of Florida for clients in the Grocery, Retail, Senior Living, Medical Office, Auto Dealer, and Charter School sectors. Hawkins Construction actively has 1M+ SF ongoing work, provides pre-construction services, executes quality builds, delivers timely turnover, keeping owner/developers project rent rolls and IRR on track.

Mr. Walker is former Student-Athlete at University of Florida, dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, accomplished concert cellist, avid Formula1 fan, and native Floridian residing on the gulf coast in Tarpon Springs, FL.
